Wyman For Washington

“Positive direction”

Welcome to Roland Wyman’s Washington City Council campaign site. Be sure to bookmark this page and check back often! I post items of interest and keep you up to date on our city.

My vision is about YOUR vision.
A city councilor should put YOUR ideas and concerns at the heart of city business. Let’s work together towards an inclusive community, where people of all socio-economic backgrounds enjoy a growing base of businesses, opportunities, and quality of life, where everyone can say “We love it here!”

That is why I’m running for city council…because I’m Wyman for Washington.

“If man is to survive, he will have learned to take a delight in the essential differences between men and between cultures. He will learn that differences in ideas and attitudes are a delight, part of life’s exciting variety, not something to fear.”
― Gene Roddenberry

Roland’s Focus

Quality of Life

Support efforts that build a sense of community among our residents: Work toward a sense of belonging for all of us in the city. Continue sidewalk construction program, upgrade public spaces, deliver arts programs more effectively, focus on root causes of crime.

I will support best practices and new ideas to see what our city could do to make daily life better every day for those who live here. Adapting new ideas so they work for our city is essential in the 21st century.

Youth Retention & Young Professionals

Too many of our young graduates must leave here to find work. Also, our city needs more housing choices for young professionals and working people. I’ll continue to focus on these initiatives.

Infrastructure

Maintain a priority on stormwater management and flooding issues. Better manage our streets for traffic safety and accessibility for people of all ages and abilities.

Create action plans for water quality and stormwater control, street improvements, and keeping pipes and wires in good condition. Get control of excessive stormwater at the source. Keep pollution and litter out of our waterways.

Engagement – Transparency

Continuously and strongly reach out to Washington residents for constructive conversations. Bring in the wealth of ideas that Washingtonians have, so the city can benefit from people’s own insights and solutions, based on their direct experience with our city’s challenges.

“… The candidate I give my vote to has proven to me that he has compassion, integrity; passion for what is fair and right, and an understanding of people. He sees the need for change …walks in wisdom and has a vision for a greater Washington.”

Director, Washington Underground Railroad Museum
